I started trying to create an Internet business nearly 3 years ago now and yes, I have made some money, not a lot but it's growing. In that three year period learned a number of very important things and these I want to share with you:

Firstly, you will not make $10,000 in the next 30 days,

You certainly will not make anything without a lot of hard work and some investment, and

Thirdly, 90% of what you see offered on the Internet as moneymaking programs are moneymaking only for the promoter.

So the question is, “How all does one make money on the Internet?” The answer really is simple - sell things that people want to buy! For most of us this is a very daunting thought. If you are going to sell something, you have to know where to buy it for less of a price than you sell it for so that you can make some money, you have to work out how to collect your money from the people who buy the product from you, and you have to work out how you are going to deliver the product. These problems are vexing and this is why eBay has been so successful. It solves most of those problems for you, but eBay has been so successful that many thousands of other people are already using that medium and as a result it's become very crowded and very difficult to get any visibility.

So what the total answer is I am not sure, but I certainly know a part of it. Very early in my internet days I came across a program run by Michael Russell out of Australia it's called MPAM. I know I have talked about it before, but I'm so convinced that it is one of the best available that I can’t help but continue to champion the cause.

What Michael Russell does in his program is he teaches you to understand the principles of niche marketing. What does this mean? Simply put, define an area that you know people will be interested in buying products then set up a website to precisely offer the products that they are looking for! Why does this work? Simple, because that's how search engines work. People tell search engines what they're looking for and the search engines send them to those websites which most closely meet the definition of the requirements input by the searcher. When you have a visitor to your website who is looking for precisely the products that you are offering, you have “niche marketing!” I'm trying to do it now and have a number of websites that are gradually building their visibility on the search engines and as a result my income is building also. And the best part is that Michael Russell has set up all the mechanisms to source and deliver the product, and collect the money for you.

So what's in it for me if you take my advice. Very simple, the bigger we build our network of people doing the same kind of thing and working together, the bigger the imprint we make on those nameless spiders that the search engines send out. It’s the old story, if it's a bigger pie, your slice of it is bigger. So come and join us, help us build the biggest pie so that all of us will benefit in the long run.

I've never met Michael Russell personally but he has responded to me on a number of occasions when I've had questions. That is another thing that is unique about this organization MPAM. All the key people understand that their success depends on all the member’s success. You will certainly find their responsiveness a great advantage. The program is not free but is comparatively inexpensive with others on the Internet and as I said before. If it's free that's as much as it is worth.

For a while now I have been commenting on how satisfied I have been with the training and advice provided by MPAM. [I don't think the letters have any meaning any more] When the program started out it was very much like a few others on the net emphasizing recruiting and getting a big list. This is no longer the case. The program still gives the basics of building your team but has a much greater emphasis on developing your website and making it “spider” friendly.

This part of the program is called the twenty steps course. It takes you by the hand and gives you specific detailed instructions on how to make money from your website. They just came out with a new development called EZtools which allows you to add blocks of ads for books and magazines and DVDs etc.

If this was all they offered it would be great, but it is not all. There is also a monthly program where members participate in buying and selling advertising and the program currently yields anything from 10 to 25% profit in the month.

Of course the program is not free but you can check it out for the first 30 days for a minimal one dollar, I think, but there's one thing for sure, this is the best value on the internet if you're serious about making it a business!

Incidently did I mention that the program is run by real people who actually personally answer their e-mails. The first time I got a personal e-mail from the owner I thought it was just a ruse but it has happened so many times and in such a personal way that there is no doubt in my mind that he and others in the club take a personal interest in all of the members. They have a bulletin board which answers his almost every question you can imagine and if you have a new one someone on answer within hours.

Bidvertiser is working great for me

I started putting Bidvertiser adverts on my websites only a couple of weeks ago. I had been a Google publisher for over a year until suddenly they chopped me off. Their vague reason was unauthorized clicks. After speaking with a number all my Associates I deduced that the reason for the cutoff was the fact that my website was on a number of hit exchanges. Now these were not autosurf exchanges, they were just a regular manual exchanges such as Clickaholics.com.

Anyway, this forced me to look for alternatives. I'm glad I did. I went to Bidvertiser. In less than two hours I had bidvertiser advertisements on my website, and the next day I put it up on my blog.

Just this morning I received an e-mail from Bidvertiser telling me there income labels was increasing and giving me links to the code for poor my websites. That kind of service I never got from Google.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sorry that Google cut me off, and I really think it is very unfair particularly as I had never taken a single dollar of my earnings from them. But at least I now know there is a world after Google.

A truly money making "Business"

This Blog is all about making a living on the internet, and yes it can be done. But if you think you can become rich overnight, forget it. The internet is just like any other business, it requires work, knowledge, application and, yes, even some investment.

I have been learning the skills necessary for over three years now and have learned a lot. Unfortunately there is still much more to discover. Adwords and Surf exchanges.

You may not know this, but it's true. The big Google will terminate your account if you use surf exchanges. Seems a bit odd, all you are trying to do is get more people to view their ads and whamo, no appeal, you are gone. This is not a democratic thing. Maybe they are getting too powerful for their own good!!

How to make money with Google adwords.

The buzz on the internet right now is Adwords, and every second site you see is sporting the Google advertising boxes, and the webmasters are getting paid a few pennies every time someone clicks an ad. You have got to have an awful lot of clicks to get rich.

Now you can sign up to be an advertiser yourself, and if you have a productive website, this is probably a good thing. But what if you don’t have a website or yours doesn’t produce. Well there is a way to get in on the wave!

The great “search engine advertising” revolution.

If you want to know where the real money is being made on the internet today, you have only to understand the adwords revolution. Now, this is not putting google ads on your website and being paid pennies per click, no - this is search engine advertising, becoming an advertiser yourself. It is all about the keywords that real people as opposed to us internet junkies use to find things on the web.

I was at a Clubshop web meeting the other day, and one of the attendees was explaining her online business with sales of $175,000 per month. How was she doing it?

1) She was a member of Clubshop Mall.

2) She advertised her own links to clubshop vendors using search engine advertising campaigns like this:

Dear mike,I’m Going "Bananas" Cause I Didn’t Know That!Now here’s what I didn’t know about bananas and what all banana lovers should know.
I am a banana lover so I am glad I found this information which will help us derive greater nutrition from the bananas we eat and to know when we should not eat bananas. Here’s the story: Bananas are not left to ripen on the tree because they would soon split open and become infested with insects. Therefore, they are picked when two-thirds ripe and continue to ripen during shipment.
The ripening process involves a chemical change in which protopectin is converted to soluble pectin, and starch is converted to sugars of 66% sucrose, 14% fructose, and 20% glucose. As the banana ripens, it gives off ethylene gas which, not only causes ripening, but the development of color as well.
Most fruits do this, but bananas give off an exceptionally large amount, so much so that they are able to help other nearby fruits to ripen. A ripening banana put into a closed container with green tomatoes will turn them red in a very short period of time and help an avocado ripen overnight. (Here’s something I did know. Green oranges are put into a chamber and exposed to ethylene gas which then turns the orange’s color from green to orange. They do this because the general public’s perception is that green colored oranges are not ripe, when indeed they are.) The principal aroma of bananas is caused by amyl acetate. Bananas also contain tryptopha, an amino acid that is converted to serotonin, a brain inhibiting neurotransmitter which makes bananas a calming food. Bananas can also be an internal lubricator. Green ones are used as an astringent in the treatment of diarrhea and hemorrhoids.
When fully ripe, they can be beneficial in the treatment of constipation and ulcers. Some native peoples rubbed banana peels on their skin problems. Modern research has since confirmed that rubbing banana peel on red, scaly patches of psoriasis can provide relief without the side effects of conventional remedies. The active ingredients in banana peels, called esterified fatty acids, have been isolated and incorporated into a patented lotion (Exorex lotion) and sold commercially.Bananas are rich in potassium, riboflavin, niacin, and dietary fiber. They also contain Vitamins A and C, B6 (good for carpel tunnel sufferers), some calcium, iron, and magnesium.
Because of their sweetness, they have a high energy value, making them a good supplement for active people. They have long been a natural cure to help replenish lost potassium during bouts of diarrhea or vomiting.
Bananas are low in sodium and contain small quantities of the indigestible fibers cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin and moderate amounts of pectin, the food fiber that prevents the absorption of fats and may help lower blood cholesterol levels. Because of this trait, foods containing pectin should not be eaten at the same time as the consumption of essential fatty acids such as in fish, which the body requires. A banana begins with more starch than sugar. As the fruit ripens, that role is reversed. Eating unripe bananas can be harmful because they contain proteins that inhibit amylase, an enzyme that digests complex carbohydrates.
Ripe bananas can be stored in the fridge. The cold air will slow the natural enzyme action that ripens the fruit, eventually rotting it. Cold storage will darken the banana's skin by releasing polyphenoloxidase, an enzyme that converts phenols to dark brown compounds. The fruit inside, however, will remain tasty for several days. For a quick "banana ice cream", bananas can be frozen in their skins then quickly peeled and eaten immediately before they turns mushy. Using bananas this way in a blender makes a drink that is also excellent. Overripe bananas need not be thrown out. They make excellent additions to banana bread or pancakes. On the flip-side, bananas can interfere with the action of some drugs, especially for those taking MAO inhibitors (monoamine oxidase) which are used as antidepressants or antihypertensives. They inhibit the action of enzymes that break down the amino acid tyramine so it can be eliminated from the body. Tyramine is a pressor amine, a chemical that constricts blood vessels and raises blood pressure. By eating a food such as a banana that contains tyramine while taking an MAO inhibitor, the pressor amine cannot be eliminated. The result can be abnormally high blood pressure or a hypertensive crisis. Bananas can also create a false-positive for testing tumor markers. Carcinoid tumors can arise from tissues in the endocrine system, the intestines, or the lungs. These tumors secrete serotonin, a natural chemical that makes blood vessels expand or contract.
Because serotonin is excreted in the urine, these tumors are diagnosed by measuring the levels of serotonin by-products in the urine. Bananas contain large amounts of serotonin, and eating them within three days of an endocrine tumor test can produce a result that will suggest the presence of a tumor that is really not there. Other such foods that can create a similar false-positive tumor test are avocadoes, eggplant, pineapple, plums, tomatoes, and walnuts. I Didn’t Know That!
And What You May Not Know About Apples, Too...Now about apples, another of my favorite fruits. There’s lots to write about but at some other time. For now I’ll just give you some new-to-me information that made me think, “I Didn’t Know That!”Apples contain tartaric and malic acids which inhibit gastric fermentation, thereby preventing bacteria proliferation in the digestive tract. Apples are said to aid in removal of such toxic metals as lead and mercury from the body, and are very beneficial in binding radioactive residues and helping to excrete them from the body.
Apples can cleanse the lungs of phlegm, boost overall immunity and stimulate the appetite. Freshly-pressed apple juice is very cleansing for the liver and gall bladder. It is little wonder that the familiar phrase "An apple a day can keep the doctor away" became so popular. However, the one problem with apples is that most are grown with the help of chemical spraying. This does not only stay on the outside of the fruit to be washed off, but travels through the root system of the tree and enters the fruit from the inside.
Organically grown apples and other fruits have a superior flavor even though they may not look as uniformly beautiful. Although the nutrient content may not be any different, they are certainly healthier. Eating a conventionally grown apple, or any other fruit for that matter, is like having a dish of healthy food with a dash of poison added. I enrolled at blogestates, I have two sites there. In a couple of weeks without any promotion on my part I have received over 1000 visits to those blogs.

The point is that it is a very cheap way to host a website. I pay $30-40 for sites hosted elsewhere, and posting new stuff is a breeze.

Traffic exchanges are the bread and butter of the internet affiliate program entrepreneur! And of course not all exchanges are the same.

Originally called “start exchanges” because the idea was every time you opened your browser you would be taken to a different website, they evolved into click for traffic exchanges, like Hitpulse.com and ViralVisitors.com . There are so many out there that webmasters needed a new differentiation, and have now begun to build in down line builders.

There are three of these new exchanges that are somewhat similar, but are really worthy of note. The first is 10khits4unow.com . This has a number of neat features. Firstly it provides a lead capture system, and we all need every lead we can get. It also allows you to set up campaigns which target a specific website, avoiding the waste of hits on a URL that is no longer in need of promotion. One great feature of this program is a specialist training program which is not free, but is excellent.

The second exchange I want to mention is Trafficrodeo.com . Similar in may respects to 10KHits, it goes further in the down line builder side of the business, with the unique feature that you can list all your own programs, and you are not forced to carry forward all of your sponsors URL’s for programs you haven’t joined. This feature is so good that 10Khits has provided a spot in their down line builder to pick up the Trafficrodeo page.

The last of the trio is Satintraffic2u.com . It is very similar to the previous two, and has most of the same features.

In summary, out of the myriad of traffic exchanges, these three stand out and are worthy of your attention. I give them all A+

I just opened my browser, and my home page is set to my 10000hits startpage rotator, and there is Trafficroundup Blog.

The rotator is part of the setup created by MPAM (massive passive advertising machine) and helps me remember to do some surfing every day! I still think MPAM is the best training program on the net!

Just after I joined DHS the club, my wife's computer collapsed. It was old, so the collapse was not unexpected. We decided a new one was required, as she spends her life online sending emails to friends and relatives. We also decided it was time for a notebook, as we spend half the week away every week, and being able to access email from anywhere was a great attraction.

This was the perfect opportunity to test out the DHS network of vendors. We went to the

l, accessed through my member portal, clicked on computers and there was a list of twelve possible vendors. I tried six or seven with a simple click, found pricing and availability and quickly settled on Overstock.com

The price for my choice was $599.00 shipping was free, and it was in stock. Opening an account was a breeze, and in less than 15 minutes the order was placed. At the time I expected delivery in five to ten days, but when I checked my email looking for confirmation of my order, there it was, delivery expected three days.

And three days later, the computer arrived, with the only glich in the whole process. The package was shipped FEDEX and the delivery person came when we were not at home. He left my package at the door, albeit well hidden. No signature!!

I could not believe that!!

But there it was, I had my computer, received 1500 reward points, and got the best price I could find. Overall a most successful venture onto the web!!

There is a lot good about this new blog host, but as is the norm with the promoter, they are very picky.

If you have commercial content you have to upgrade, and commercial content means a link to a commercial site. Pretty ridiculous on the web, particularly when they have links to all Doug’s programs right there on the standard setup. So it’s OK to advertise Doug’s programs, but not a personal website.

Anyhow, before I found out how ridiculous he was going to be I started work on my health and fitness blog titled Wellness Issues, at http://blogestates.com/blog/mike3602 I really want this new blog to succeed, so if it doesn’t work out here, I will move to http://www.Blogger.com who are much more co-operative.

I have not got to posting in the last while because I have been working hard at my websites.

My stamp website has been the greatest challenge because there is so much data, and my computer does not seem able to handle it. So my wike Penny came uwith the idea to split it up. This I am now doing, and I got the South Africa section up prices last night. It is a bit bland, and I will have to brighten it up with some picture but I dont want to slow things down to much.

What to do with your amaryllis bulb!!

Yes, you can save your Amaryllis Bulbs!!!

It’s about this time of year when most of the spring bulbs have flowered, and the big question is, “What can I do with my amaryllis bulbs and all the other spring bulbs I have in pots?” While I am going to talk particularly about the beautiful amaryllis, king of the spring bulbs, generally my comments apply to all bulbs including the summer lilies, except with respect to the depth of planting.

Yes you can save them and flower them again next year, but it takes a little effort. First if you live in the south where winter frosts never go below -25F. Here you have the option of just planting them out in your herbaceous border. They will die down in time and re-sprout next spring. Just remember to observe the planting instructions below.

Assuming your location is not as described, or if you want to keep the bulb in its pot, it can still be done. First check the medium your bulb is in. A lot of the packs that come particularly at Christmas have only peat moss as the planting medium. Great for keeping the bulb an roots moist to generate a flower, but not good for the refurbishing of the bulb for next year. Not enough nutrients. I have to say, I have been lazy any just added a fully balanced fertilizer and sort of gown the bulb hydroponic style, but that is not the best way. Get some good potting soil and repot your bulb being careful to ensure the top quarter of the bulb protrudes from the soil. Keep the pot in a medium to full sun position, and water well twice a week. Do not cut back the leaves, but do cut off the old flower. The leaves are the food generators. The nutrition for the new flower is made in the leaves and stored in the bulb, so let the leaves grow until they begin to wilt naturally in the fall. Only then cut back the leaves, let the bulb dry out completely, and store in a cool dark place till after the winter.

Next spring your bulb will reawaken and flower again, perhaps with not the magnificence of the store bought version, but with a wealth of satisfaction that you have saved a beautiful plant to continue to brighten our world!!

I got my fathers stamp collection.

After a runaround you would not believe, on Friday I collected my fathers stamp collection from the Jacksonville airport. When the dust had settled, it cost me $800 to spring the five boxes from the clutches of the air cargo warehouse.

So what now. I am going to have to recover some of the cost because I am just about skint, so I have decided to create a website which I will try and integrate into the MPAM program of niche-sites. The MPAM link to their section on stamp collecting is:

A Letter to my brother Bill

A couple of weeks ago brother Bill asked me to explain what I was spending all my spare time on the internet. This letter is the response. As I think some others of you may be interested, I have taken the liberty of copying this to you. The simple fact is I am trying to structure an internet based Multi Level Marketing business based on “multiple streams of income.

The best example of the way the system works is the Discount Home Shopping Club, DHS club for short.

I joined this operation only fairly recently, and like it a lot! It seems to me a no lose kind of deal. What it is is a bonus miles kind of program. You join, spend money at all sorts of online outlets like Amazon, Best Buy etc, and earn rewards. The trick here though is if you get other members to join, you get a share of their rewards. It has three membership levels, shopper (totally free, get no benefit from any referrals), associate (totally free and you get a share of your referrals spending, but you have to put up with a bunch of emails from them asking you to upgrade) and VIP (get the best deal all round but with a monthly fee.

Another program I like is http://allsolutionsnetwork.com/MA3/ also because it is totally free. The website here just links to all sorts of services, and again, if you use these you get a commission, but similarly, if you build up a team of referrals you get a chunk of their purchases as well.

A really old program which has some merit is http://penny3602.freestoreclub.com/a_home.asp. Again you get a website with storefront from which you can buy wholesale, and you build up your team, and make money!

Now Bill asked me specifically about health supplements, and there is one program I have which has a store dealing precisely with that. Effective use of Autosurfs.

One of the big mysteries of the internet is the question of how to effectively use the autosurf exchanges, and I dont mean the cash autsurfs which are a seperate issue. I use these exchanges a lot, but not because I expect to get real unique visitors, but because you can convert these autosurf visits into manual visits by an interestig technique.

I have set this process out in a fuller more detailed explanation on an autoresponder at visits4u@getresponse.com, but to summarise:

1. Sign up for Hitpulse.com at

2. sign up for a few good autosurf like Autosurf.dk (there is a list of those I use at the autoresponder) and set your referal page at Hitpulse, or any other manual exchange that gives you credits for showing your referal page, as your target URL.

3. Run your autosurfs as much and as often as you can. You will see you hitpoints at Hitpulse growing daily, and you can convert these to credits as you wish.

I use this method to get 1000's of hits every month, with little or no effort once the setup is done.

A great idea for Mothers day: A special herb garden.

I have tried all sorts of ways to grow herbs for the kitchen, and it is a challenge when you don’t have a large productive garden to work with. However, I came across a great idea, which I tried myself, and it really does work.

It also makes a great gift, something which is personal, and says, “I took some trouble to give something really special.”

Way back when you must have seen those pots which look like Grecian urns but have little balcony like apertures on the sides, creatind an impression of a miniature apartment complex. They were popular for growing strawberries on patios. Well, you will find them at your favorite garden shop, (I always use Home Depot) for around $15.00-20.00. So, here is the thing, also in the same store you will find potted herbs. Get a variety that you know your Mom or other chosen recipient will like, fill the pot with really good potting soil, and plant the herbs all around the pot.

To give the pot some visual impact, chose three different colored lettuces for the large opening at the top, put mint, and time, both of which spread vigorously, at the lower levels, parsley and basil near the top, and wait.

The herbs love the environment, and grow well. If you get going right now, your portable herb garden will be ready to present on Mothers day, and the harvest of fresh flavors will be a constant reminder of a thoughtful giver.

For long term care, all herbs need good light, preferably nearly full sun, and do not like to be dry. The long pot needs a really thorough watering at least once a week, and the herbs like to be harvested, it encourages new growth of fresh tasty leaves.

I have been unable to solve the problem of wraparound on the google adds, so I elected to do what the guys at MPAM is a no no and used the 4 ad banner. It works so well, I think it is a vast improvement. I have to admit I have not yet had a hit on an ad, so only time will tell.

Would you believe, Globalnetvatage.com has reemerged, but no message as to what happened, and why they got lost. In the meantime I had to go through all my advertising to take them out, now I have to go back and put them back!!

After struggling with Penny's computer for yonks, we decided to get a laptop. This will be useful for our away stays, as penny will be able to access her email, and I may even be able to do some work.

So first we signed her up under me at

Getting Started

I have been stuggling for a year to create an online business presence. I have had some success, and some failures. I decided to do this blog as a record of my attempt, so maybe some others will find some advice and avoid my pitfalls, and maybe give me some advice also.

I am going to come back to the story, but right now, I am in the process of creating my blog, and I am rather keen to see how it will look, so I will resstict my comments at this time to two of my websites. The first has the same name as this blog,

I signed up for this program six months ago and called it "an Internet Survivor's Guide." Over time I have had over fifty people sign up to my news letter there, and am beginning to get some sales.

Visits4u, as the name implies, was to tell people about a special process I had found which creates traffic to your website without you having to spend hours clicking. I have had many visitors, and know that at least a dozen souls tried my method.
